Our Founders would have been proud!

Since its formation in 1947 the Regular Lodge meeting in February of each year has been an evening to celebrate and acknowledge our Founders. On Founders Night it has become a tradition that Past Masters take up the Offices within the Lodge and lead the evening. This year, 2017, marks the 70th anniversary of the founding of St Wilfrid Lodge and it was therefore very fitting that the evening proved a memorable one. Firstly, the Lodge had the priviledge and pleasure of conducting the Raising of Bro. Richard McClay to the degree of Master Mason on behalf of Leeds Lodge No. 9667. The excellent ceremony was led by Past Master W.Bro Paddy Hostford ably supported by several of the Senior Brethren. Secondly, the Lodge were pleased to welcome a number of the Brethren of Leeds Lodge who had come to support Richard, together with several other distinguished visitors. Thirdly, we were also delighted to welcome the Provincial Grand Master, the R.W.Bro David Pratt, as a guest. At the conclusion of the ceremony Charity Steward W.Bro Paul Merrett was pleased to present the Privincial Grand Master with a cheque for £1340 raised by the Lodge in support of the West Riding Masonic Charities which supports so many worthy local causes and this year in particular, the RMBI Festival 2017. Our Founders, I’m sure, would have been very proud! The evening was concluded with a very enjoyable meal at the Festive Board. Good Food, Good Humour, Good Company!
